How Ruffled & Refined Began
Ruffled & Refined started right here at Our Ruffled Nest.
It began with making products for my family. The more attention we paid to what we were growing, eating, and bringing into our home, the more I found myself experimenting with making some of the products we used every day. And honestly, they were really good.
Years of growing, studying, and working with botanicals have shaped the way I formulate today — from the ingredients I choose to the purpose each one serves.
Closer to the Source
We’re just as intentional about where our ingredients come from. Everything we sell is handcrafted by us, and whenever possible, we source ingredients locally — including goat’s milk and beeswax from nearby suppliers and tallow that we source locally and hand-render ourselves. Supporting other small, local businesses is important to us, and it keeps us closer to the ingredients we use every day.
Made for Our Family — and Yours
What started as something I enjoyed doing for my own family slowly grew into something I wanted to share with others. When I stepped away from corporate America, I finally had the time to lean into it — and Ruffled & Refined began to take shape around the life we were building here.
Today, our soaps, skincare, bath and body products are handcrafted here in small batches, with ingredients chosen for a reason and formulas kept straightforward and transparent.
We’re not interested in complicated routines or ingredients just because they’re trendy. We make products the way we want them for our own home — thoughtfully, simply, and with ingredients we feel good about using.
And because the garden and the way we live here are such a big part of Our Ruffled Nest, you’ll also find seeds we’ve grown and harvested ourselves, seasonal goods, and other useful pieces of homestead life as Ruffled & Refined continues to grow.
